Versions
Newest first. The number in parentheses is the TestFlight build number. Xcode Cloud assigns it, so the numbers are not always consecutive.
0.1.0
Internal TestFlightThe first version, not yet on the App Store. In internal TestFlight testing since 2026-10-18: first iOS 0.1.0 (3), then, the same day, iOS and macOS 0.1.0 (5). The two builds have the same app code; build 5 is the first to include the Mac version.

- Write down a grievance and press Return to let it slide: the words turn into beads that slide off and disappear in about 3 seconds. One bead per character, up to 60 characters at a time; spaces alone are not counted.
- Keeps only N drops slid off today, which resets at midnight. What you write lives only in the animation and is released when it ends. Nothing is saved to disk, and the app never goes online.
- With Reduce Motion turned on in the system, the beads fade out in place instead of falling.
- App icon: a lotus leaf and a bead of water on a pond-green ground. From iOS 26 and macOS 26 it shows as a layered icon; earlier systems use a flat icon.
- Each app bundle includes a privacy manifest (PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy): no tracking, no data collected. The only interface that needs a stated reason is UserDefaults. The iPhone app and widgets declare 1C8F.1 and CA92.1; the Mac version declares CA92.1. The Privacy Policy explains each item.

- The main screen shows the core line, its gloss and the source, with the input field and today’s count below. Each slide comes with a light vibration as it goes.
- Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets. The small size, for the Home Screen and StandBy, sets the core line in three short lines, with a drop and today’s count. On the Lock Screen: circular (a drop and the count), rectangular (the second half of the line and the count) and inline (a short phrase and the count). They share the count with the app through an App Group and reset at midnight.
- Night Pond: tap Start Night Pond to start it. It uses Live Activities and shows on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island; lock the phone and charge it on its side, and StandBy shows the line and count full screen. It carries only today’s count, updates on the device and uses no push. Its content expires at the next midnight and then shows 0; when you return to the app, it shows today’s count again. Tap End Night Pond to end it.
- App Intents: three actions in Shortcuts. Pause Before You Dive In shows the passage over the current screen without switching apps. Five-Second Full-Screen Pause switches to BuZhan for a five-second full-screen countdown, after which Dive In appears. Let Something Slide just counts one drop. None of the three takes parameters or receives text.
- Siri: “Let it slide with BuZhan” or “BuZhan, let it slide” counts a drop right away, and Siri answers with today’s count without asking anything more. “BuZhan, pause” runs Pause Before You Dive In. Let It Slide can also be assigned to the iPhone Action button. If Siri doesn’t respond, use the phrase shown in the app’s How to Use.
- The How to Use page: what Night Pond needs to appear in StandBy, the Siri phrases and how to use your own, the Before You Dive In steps for each system version (iOS 27 differs from iOS 17–26), and a button that opens BuZhan’s page in Shortcuts. This site has a copy too.
- When Live Activities are turned off, the main screen and the guide page show where to turn them on, with an Open Settings button.

- A menu bar app that shows the drop and today’s count. Normally it lives only in the menu bar.
- Global shortcut ⌃⌥⌘D: opens the input bar in any app, ready to type without clicking, with Chinese input methods working normally. Return lets it slide; Esc or a click elsewhere closes it without counting. The shortcut is registered through the Carbon interface and needs no Accessibility permission. It doesn’t use ⌥⌘D, because the system already uses that.
- The input bar appears in the upper part of the current screen. The beads slide down a transparent, click-through full-screen overlay, so you can keep clicking the windows below during the animation.
- The menu has today’s count, Write It Down…, the core line and its source, Open at Login and Quit BuZhan (⌘Q).
- Runs in the App Sandbox, without network permission.
System requirements
- iPhone: iOS 17 or later. The Dynamic Island and the Action button are only on iPhones that have them.
- Mac: macOS 14 or later.
Known limits
- A Live Activity lasts up to about 8 hours, and then the system ends it. Tap Start Night Pond again when you need it.
- In StandBy, third-party widgets can only appear small, two side by side, and are mostly static. To show the line and count full screen, use Night Pond.
- iOS doesn’t let one app block another app from opening. You build the Before You Dive In Personal Automation yourself in Shortcuts. The app can’t create it for you; it can only give the steps in How to Use.
- After Five-Second Full-Screen Pause ends, iOS can’t switch you back to the app you were opening. You go back yourself: tap the back link in the top-left corner, or swipe sideways along the bottom.
- The system keyboard learns words you type, so sentences written in BuZhan may show up in its suggestions. That is system behavior the app can’t control.
- The app’s interface is Simplified Chinese only for now.
